Ashley Sportiva Coupé
Registration No. 368 XVE
( Originally Registration No. 44 FBM )
I've had this Sportiva - 44 FBM on my Registration Index Archive
for years but had no other information about it other than
when it was registered.
Then in October 2013 I received an email
from Adam with some photo's and a bit of news about it.
Click the Button below to find out more.
Well, as you have seen in the "guise of 44 FBM" it was in a
sorry state when Adam and his dad Dave purchased it but this was to change over the next couple of years.
Living in Australia and generally getting back to UK to catchup with friends and relations every couple of years, I also try to get to the Specials Display Day at Burford held every year.
In August 2015 I did
manage to get there and see Adam & Dave and families with both
their Ashley Sportiva & Ashley 1172GT Coupe.
WooHoo, I even got to sit in the Ashley 1172GT and
fiddle with the switches.
The photo's are shown in sequence,
from starting the restoration, thro' to painting,
to display day and then going home.
I guess you might have noticed that the Sportiva was not quite
finished and was sporting the wrong Bonnet,
shape and colour.
Well, the next year in August 2016 that was all corrected.
But before it got to that stage I'm pleased to say that I managed to find Dave a Sportiva bonnet that another Ashley enthusiast had
notified me about, they worked out a swap deal
and the deed was done and I never even left Oz.
Mind you Dave and Adam had a fair bit of work to do on it to
make it useable, as you can see below.
Again we skip a year and in August 2018 it was all kitted out and off to the Annual Specials Display Day in Burford.
Although not registered but a standout Special all the same
as it took out the Trophy for Best on Show.

12 Months later in August 2019 it was me taking the photo's
at the Annual Specials Display Day in Burford, also a video.

I always keep an eye open for this Sportiva at Burford
it's my Ashley Sportiva which I built in 1962,
but I believe it went to Ashley Heaven many years ago.

Then in September 2019 Dave took his Sportiva
to the Classic Cars at Hoghton Tower and came away with another trophy.
Then in November 2019 Dave's Sportiva
was invited to the Classic Car Show at the NEC in Birmingham.

Activity for Dave and his Ashley Sportiva seems a bit light on
for 2020 the year of the "Covid Lockdowns"
Dave however had a new Garage built earlier and has taken a few photo's showing the families old classics.

My thanks to Dave & Adam and all the family for allowing me to show their wonderfully rebuilt Ashley's.
