Dear Ivor,
My father owned a Red Ashley with Ford engine around 1962, it was in Rugby, Warwickshire.
I have a slide picture and some cine film of it, I can recall him working on it and riding in it, just about.
The registration number was 1781 NK . Do you have any records of it, or if it still survives, I would love to know, maybe the history I have would be interesting to the present owner?
Thanks, Tim

I replied to Tim that his first sentence sounded a lot like my story, as I had a Red Ashley with Ford engine around 1962.
However I checked my records and unfortunately there was no car of that registration known to me.
I checked the DVLA online vehicle records and they also have no record of that registration.
As the DVLA have no record of it normally indicates that it didn't get transferred from paper records to electronic records in the late 1970's, and has not been registered since then,
again, sorry to say much like mine.
It could of course have been off the road for awhile and been re-registered with a different Registration No. or could be in a shed or barn waiting to be discovered, yes they do still survive like that sometimes.
Tim is going to hunt out some photo's and write up some details about
the car for me to add to this webpage so more to come later.
However it was not until
June 2015
that Tim managed to find the photo and his Dad's 8mm homemovie of the Ashley Sportiva.
At that time I was about to head over to England for a holiday so I suggested that he send it to me there (to save postage) and
that I would get it converted to digital format and onto a DVD,
which we did.

By the way Tim is the elder of the two boys with their Mum,
his Dad is taking the movie.
_________
I have also taken a few stills from the DVD to show the
Sportiva better.

Tim also sent me an email with a picture of an Ashley that a friend of their's mentioned at the weekend with the following note:
"Here attached is a picture of an Ashley that a dear friend of ours
mentioned to me at the weekend.
Unfortunately her husband, Richard, had died last year and I
didn’t realise he once owned an Ashley"
